COMMUNITY SERVICES
What Community Services is all about
-
The Pleasant Hill Community Services Center provides food and clothing for many low income and out-of-work residents of our community. During 2001, Community Services volunteers served more than 7,562 clients, and gave away food worth more than $45,500, and 80,000 items of clothing plus bedding. The center is an Emergency Food Pantry for referrals from the Contra Costa County Social Services Department.
-
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Pleasant Hill Community Services Center. Current Community Services volunteers are: Theo Davis, Barbara Gadd, Warren and Pat Hayashi, Anna Herbert, Brantley and Evelyn Johnson, Sandra McMahon, Betty Owiecki, Elsie Stahlman, Steve Swan and Maisie Tan.
-
There is no paid staff. The volunteers are very special. They choose to share their own valuable time to help others, not for dollars, but for the satisfaction they receive in helping others and for making a difference for good in this world.
-
The Community Services Center receives donations from the Contra Costa County Food Bank, American Red Cross, Project Share, Pathfinders Food Drive, the Superbowl of Caring and from members of the Pleasant Hill Church family and others. The Center also receives financial support from the Pleasant Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church.
