What will we discover today?

At Discoveryland Preschool, we see our task as working in cooperation with you, the parents. Together we will provide a positive learning environment for your child. We want your child to be safe, and to know that she or he is loved. It is our belief that Christian values and basic Bible teachings form the framework within which these goals can be accomplished.

Our teaching starts in the classrooms, and flows out onto the playground. Songs, Bible stories, finger plays about Jesus’ love and other happy, positive aspects of the Christian life are a part of our daily teaching program. Character-building stories about children of today encourage sharing, cause-and-effect reasoning, and cooperative learning. Your child will learn to pray simple prayers before meals, and to talk to Jesus as a friend. On the playground, we teach the children to be kind and considerate of each other.

At Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter we teach simple, seasonal Christian stories of how God provides for our needs, and how He has blessed our country. We do not teach church doctrine. We do teach the children about the One who created the earth, and all of its wonderfully different kinds of people. Through our words and actions, we hope to teach respect and acceptance of all kinds of peoples and religions.

As Christians, we believe that the Bible is God’s word. We try to read it regularly, and pray that its teachings make a difference in our lives, and in how we treat each other. We look forward to sharing the love God has for us with the whole world, and hope that those children and families with whom we come in contact will want to know God, because of the way we live our lives. Discoveryland Child Development Center is licensed under the State of California and abides by a non-discriminatory policy of admission, extending equal rights, privileges, programs and activities to all students aged two through seven years.  

Discoveryland has established a program that provides for the development of the whole child in a Christian atmosphere. We provide an environment with materials that cultivate the child’s emotional, social, spiritual and physical development. We are a non-denominational Christian preschool, owned and operated by the Pleasant Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church.

At Discoveryland, we offer a semi-structured curriculum in which the child learns through exploration, experience and accomplishment, and builds a foundation for future learning. Some of our activities include art, science, cooking, music and movement, dramatic play, working with manipulatives, and games. We also encourage the children to explore our activity centers, which are a collage of constantly changing activities, and may contain paints, books, clay, musical instruments, blocks and much more. We welcome your inquiries about our school. Our “open door” policy means that parents are welcome in our classrooms any time.
