The Lafayette
Reservoir was completed in 1933 to be used as a drinking water
supply for the customers of E.B.M.U.D. The 928 acre site with
1.4 billion gallon reservoir was opened to public recreation
in 1966. The reservoir is a recreation area for hiking, fishing,
boating and picnicking, as well as an auxiliary water supply.
The Rotary
Club of Lafayette in conjunction with E.B.M.U.D. has developed
a Nature Trail Guide that can be picked up at the Activity
Center. The paved Nature Trail path is about 2.7 miles and
circles the reservoir. Many trees and plants are marked by
numbered signs and are described in the Nature Trail Guide.
Vehicles
and pedestrians are permitted into the park during posted
park hours and at designated entry points. A vehicle entry
fee is required. In addition to annual parking permits, short-term
metered parking is also available and is restricted to a two-hour
maximum.
Directions:
Exit from Highway 24 into Lafayette. The Lafayette Reservoir
