Honduras Mission Trip

March 2005

For 3 weeks in March, a group of the Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy students and Pleasant Hill Adventist Church Youth joined students and staff from Maplewood Adventist Academy from Minnesota for an Evangelistic Mission Trip. The group was based out of San Pedro Sulas and evangelistic series at eight different sites were held. Students were assign the job of either preaching the sermon, leading out in Vacation Bible School programs or running the audiovisual for the preachers. The evangestic efforts resulted in 127 Honduran baptisms and three of our very own youth being baptised. Congratulations to Cameron, Kyle and Tyler for giving your heart to the Lord. POWER FEST!

Pleasant Hill Youth enjoyed participating the the Northern California Power Best, a week of spiritual focus conducted by the youth of 10 different Adventist Academies. Each Academy sent a student each day to speak to their peers at another school. PHAA sent David, Doug, Jillian and Chris to be their representatives to Placerville, Napa, Lodi, and Santa Rosa. Friday found our own student leader, Chris, leading out in worship at the "home base." It was "good preaching" and a worthwhile worship service.

Doug presents his first sermon ever. The subject "Know God, Know Hope!" Some quiet time assists David before he speaks to Lodi Academy on the subject of 'joy." David also spoke to Eldorado Adventist Academy. Jillian made the trip all the way to Santa Rosa. Chris motivated his fellow students to "know God and Know Love." Chris and Jillian are the Religious VP's of PHAA.
An illustration of love and God. Sometimes our anger toward each other is anger toward God. Jennifer "signs" to a song at the close of one presentation. The preaching team for Power Fest.

Christmas For Everyone:

Once again "Christmas For Everyone" included the Pleasant Hill SDA Youth. the program is community sponsored and feeds over 3,500 people on Christmas day. Each guest receives a gift of clothing and other necessary items or basic health. The Pleasant Hill SDA Church once again helped prepare the food by mixing "stuffing" and "assemblying "candy-yams." The youth were there in force to assisst. When everyone gathered the work force was so strong we prepared all the food in 2 hours plus clean-up. Way to go!

Pleasant Hill Youth's Extreme Bird House Makeover!

When Habitat for Humanity presents families with their new homes, they also present them with brand new bird houses to make their new houses feel more like a home. Pleasant Hill Youth helped them in this endeavour by building over a dozen custom new bird houses from scratch with the help of Mr. Cochran and Mr. Elloway. Many teens showed up and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. By the end of the afternoon, many had paint on their faces and more than a few bent nails to show for their hard work. If there are any homeless birds around, now they know where to come!
